A concept to help to rejuvenate Stockport city. Focusing on the city’s sport, art and fashion heritage featuring local hero Fred Perry.
WEIR MILL COURT
Researching into the history of Stockport I found out that Fred Perry, the tennis champion and founder of the global fashion brand, was born and bred in Stockport. This little-known fact gave me an idea on how to give Stockport it’s time in the sun by highlighting how, just like Fred Perry, it can show its individuality and spirit.
A tennis court that will double as an event space in collaboration with the brand Fred Perry, with the intention of binding Stockport’s history and Fred Perry’s values. This court will be located in an old cotton mill that is undergoing development to link to Perry’s family who worked in the mills and showcase the importance of textile manufacturing to Stockport’s cultural history.
