A Manchester-based information driven campaign, aiming to improve the lives of those in extreme poverty.
HELP THE HIVE
This project was made to get to the core issues that prevent many people from getting off the streets. From speaking to those who work in community housing and charities the two main issues are a lack of available information and not being treated as human. My solution was to create a resource kit for those living in extreme poverty with an advertising campaign to promote the kit and where to find it.
Many hurdles are connected to a lack of resources such as how can you get a job without a phone or how can you look presentable with no access to showers. Things that are often not thought about when the general public sees a person on the streets.
A large-scale advertising campaign directed people to where the kit is available with arrows, maps and various other eye-catching images so those who don’t have access to phone maps can find them easily.
The kit includes an informational booklet with suggestions to help with the problems people may be facing, a sim card preloaded with data, discount vouchers for life essentials, socks, sanitary pads, a toothbrush and nail clippers.
Materials were created for businesses that are participating in the scheme where the discount tickets in the kit can be used in exchange for goods and services.
